Rift of Askrah, Book One: Fracture
by Benjamin Andrews
What seems true on the surface may be just an illusion. Nihlen Draven, First
Prince and heir to the throne of the nation of Draven, has lived with
undeniable truths his entire life. In an instant though, all those
truths are shattered. After being kidnapped, and his kingdom subjugated
by the neighboring nation of Rinh, Nihlen's life begins to spiral out of
control. Every day becomes a battle for survival, even escape is nearly
impossible. Searching for the answers he desperately needs may be
pushing the limit.
In other lands, changes are also taking place.
For generations, people from one continent to another have thrived in
an age of peace. Plans have been set into motion however, both by the
hand of man, and fate itself, causing this peaceful age to come to an
end. Each desires something different, but whether those moving the
pieces know it or not, they all have two things in common. Prince
Nihlen, and a land that has become all but legend.
This legendary
land is known as Askrah, and its secrets are slowly enveloping the
world, threatening the safety and lives of people everywhere. The
history of this empire has touched every nation, in ways that have now
been long forgotten. When something is forgotten though, it does not
disappear, but waits only to be discovered once more. The Eye of Kings, a
strange power that links Nihlen to the lost history of this once mighty
empire, is only the beginning of what Askrah has left behind. This
power is the key to the end of one age, and the only chance for
salvation in the next.
The forces moving across the world, and
the ever increasing burden of destiny, will push Nihlen to his limits.
Without help, Nihlen may fall to the blade of any one of his growing
list of enemies. There are those sympathetic to his cause though, and
their help will be paramount to his success. War is rising off the
horizon, and there is no way of knowing how long there is to prepare.
The adventure is only beginning, and the prelude that ushers in the
unknown now echoes across the world.
